Youth use of harmful legal products, including inhaling or ingesting everyday household products, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter drugs, constitutes a growing health problem for African society. As such, a single targeted approach to preventing such a drug problem in a society is unlikely to be sufficient to reduce use and abuse at the youth population level. The goal of this very true article is promote the primary prevention of drug abuse, which means preventing DRUG-ABUSE before it starts.
SAY NO TO DRUG-ABUSE /ADDICTION.
Drug Addiction is a "deadly cankerworm" that is drastically eating into the lives of youths. I call it a deadly cankerworm because that is exactly what it is; A destructive force. It is so deadly that it leaves its victim helpless.
Reason why we all need to join forces and combat this "disease ".
This cankerworm almost cost me the life of my cousin brother who was addicted to hard drugs. He narrowly escaped death. It all started by him taking the popular drug__TRAMADOL (Killer of youths) to relieve himself of an excruciating tooth ache. His brain has recognised drugs as the only pain reliever. Whenever he took drug, he felt energetic, refreshed, relieved. Because of the experience he got after taking the drug he kept on consuming it even when he no longer felt pain.
Addiction is a disease. Stay away from hard drugs and wave your final bye bye to Drug-Abuse. If you can't help those who are addicted to drugs, do not harm or abuse them. Educate every kids around you on the dangers involved when one over consumes the hard drug.
To him, a day without drug is a mysterious day. With this effect, he was always compelled to take this hard drug in a very high doses. He never knew that he was gradually killing himself with drug. This "killer of youths" continued eating him both medically (because he began to loose weight, lacked coordination, could barely do any physical activity without drug) and financially too. He spent all his savings purchasing this drug which made him run to me for assistance. He kept asking for money regularly at an alarming state, which made me to ask him what he was using the whole money sent to him for. I threatened to stop offering to him any financial help should he refused to tell me what he does with money. That was when he let the cat out of the bag and told me the whole story.
After listening to his battle story, I proposed to him to come over to my house for a full-time war against the cankerworm that have changed his narrative which he agreed to come. The aim was to keep him indoors, away sourcing the drug;good thing he was on a 2 month school break. I made sure he was not in any way getting that drug though it was never easy. What he displayed just a day without got me really scared. At first he started vomiting, he lost an appetite completely, went into having fever, a very high fever. I thought I had seen it all, he started convulsing and then lost consciousness. With the help of my neighbors, he was rushed to the hospital where he was resuscitated. He was admitted in the hospital for weeks, away from the drug that almost took his life. It was not an easy battle but today I can boldly tell the world that I helped my beloved cousin out of drug addiction -the deadly cankerworm. I didn't win the battle, we won the battle.
To all niggas out there who are struggling on how to get rid of drugs should seek for help from any health professional and his family. You can win too just like my cousin..Addiction is a brain disorder. It distorts life and human nature.
Indeed, all hands need to be on deck to fight this cankerworm (Drug Abuse &/Addiction) that is taking the lives of our loved ones both young and old.
Together, we can win this battle, yes we can.
